Who should take PALS?

Ideally, anyone who provides emergency care to pediatric patients should take a PALS course.

Our courses are open to nurses and physicians who treat pediatric patients and who want to improve the care that they deliver.  These would include, but are not limited to:

  • Urban emergency room physicians and nurses
  • Rural or Northern family physicians and nurses who provide episodic emergency care
  • Physicians and nurses who provide care to remote communities

In the past, first responders, such as EMS providers, have also participated in our courses, but have often remarked that much of what we cover is beyond their scope of practice.  We suggest that EMS providers seek courses that are specific to their level of training, but will happily accept anyone who wants to challenge themselves.
